How we are all broken and it’s not my job to fix my spouse. To focus on understanding my spouse versus being understood. To pray for my spouse and turn to Jesus when I feel frustrated with my spouse. To also communicate and not feel the need to fix everything.

I learned that I look at arguments like a war that I must win. I learned techniques that I totally believe will help me connect with my wife, help her understand that she is worthy and loved, and keep these exhaustion-caused fights at bay.

This was one of those kairos “at just the right time” moments. We invested heavily in our marriage when our kids were young, but over the past 5 years we’ve been swamped with life and have gone into autopilot and the disconnection was obvious. I felt at a loss to know to re-establish our connection. This week was instrumental in reminding us of our love and commitment and gave us fresh ways to dialogue and love each other in this current season.
