Lake City Community Church Men’s Weekend 5/19/2024

A very different workshop for me. Story telling is a different way for a “teacher “ to learn. I had to go back to the book to help me process the different steps / memories. The book was written clearly and that helped.
___
I am convinced that God uses stories. The Bible is full of stories. Jesus told stories. So that was validation for me.
___
Being able to listen to someone else’s story and provide them with the love and support God wants us to give.
___
God uses imperfect men to change the world. It gives me hope for the future.
___
He loves me very much! I learned I was transactional with Gods love. I need to remember the times in my life where God was at work and praise and thank him.
___
I already worked through most of my story, and I have mentors in my life already. I more enjoyed getting to come alongside others and learn to hear THEIR story.
___
I have learned that no matter how well someone presents themselves, we all go through things in life that are difficult. I learned that God is with us every step of the way even if we feel alone. That is when we need to rely on God the most and continue to have hope. I will now stop believing the lies about myself and listen to what God says about me.
___
I learned that I have some childhood things to work on and I need to stay connected to and focused on God.
___
I learned that I should not feel guilty for experiencing His peace. Furthermore, I can be a tool for Jesus to reach and help others.
___
I learned that we all have brokenness and lies from our common enemy that we keep us from what God wants for us. I had a lot that came up that I can now deal with, not alone but with the help of others. There is hope now where there was hopelessness before.
___
I learned the sharing my difficulties helps people to be encouraged about the amount of things that God can help you overcome through faith in Christ and his redeeming work in our hearts and Minds.
___
I was atop of my "Mountain" cold and lonely and had zero idea. I learned that at face value somebody may look 100% perfect but, there are years of baggage that have developed.
___
Preparing for sharing My Story, both before and during Man Camp, helped me to recognize the real impact of some of my personal trauma experienced in my younger years. Suppressing those memories doesn’t lessen their impact on who I am today; they will always be there if I haven’t addressed them.
___
We are made for relationships. Just like the triune God. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. It’s hard to be vulnerable to share our story. Stepping out in faith to build relationships is very important. I feel more connected to the church. Our testimony is very powerful.
___
I was surprised at the number of men who lost innocence before their teen years. How shame shackled men become and what joy and freedom they experience by finding space to share their story. I'm excited to see how we can use this to deepen our Men's Ministry.
