Summit Men’s Weekend – Ingall’s Creek 5/30/2025

Gladly surprised to see how small group sharing opened up many of the men in my group in a profound way.
___
Personal Insights: This program is closely modeled after a Navy Chaplain’s Program that I have significant experience with. In my past experience I have seen stronger bonds developed with men when “free time” includes structured group opportunities.
___
Affirmation of what I am currently doing/working towards in life.
___
I was able to hear more about what interacting with Christ as a family is like.
___
I really appreciate the tools we were given at the event. I have already used them. It is also wonderful to have such blessed ministries in our community. I have already talked both the Summit and Summit Initiative to others.
___
Men can find safe places.
___
Enjoyed the interactive teaching and having handouts to use for our exercises.
___
The speaker did a great job modeling his story, highs and lows, to equip participants with the framework to open up and connect with other men in a unique and impactful way. I feel more connected and got to know those in my small group on a much deeper level. I loved the tools on a different approach for a devotional. I plan on using them in the future.
___
Thanks again for leading us this weekend at Ingall's Creek. I want to thank you for the challenge coin, which I did not value the night I received it. I did not catch the translation of the Latin as you said it, but I looked it up when I got home. "Known and Loved by God" is a powerful concept. It undergirded everything you said. My impression is that we would do well to build upon that as a foundation for the group moving forward. It is an antidote to the Christian performance fallacy. "I need to do better to earn God's favor." These days, it seems to me that everything I know to be transformational is rooted in our true identity in Christ, breaking the strongholds of the enemy in our minds.
I shared the meaning of "Notum et Amari a Deo," with a friend Linda ministered to yesterday. She led her through an encounter with Jesus at a time of deep grief and darkness. She came out of that encounter filled with renewed hope because "I have never felt so completely loved in my entire life," and this in spite of living with the devastating consequences of her own past choices. It was Jesus himself who revealed His love for her. She was encouraged by that Latin "gem," which I knew could not have come at a more appropriate time for her.
The other thing, which is necessary to obtain the fullness of the knowledge of who we are in Christ, is learning how to make a deep personal connection with the risen Lord Jesus himself. I heard that one of the groups had a long discussion about how to learn to hear from God. We need to go beyond reading the written Word and learn to listen to the living Word. I know from experience that there are many people who know the Bible better than they know Jesus. Including myself for most of my Christian life.
Spending time with Jesus gets pushed aside by so many pressing concerns, especially for us men. I know how to connect with Jesus, but I am not disciplined, the bain of my life. I was challenged to prioritize more time with Jesus and Linda because it makes all the drains less overwhelming by filling my heart with empowering grace and gratitude.
